so, somehow with all my art supplies packed up to move I managed to finish my Sketchbook Project with only a black sharpie….and I mailed it today well in advance of the April 30th deadline…I am so bad about finishing projects that this makes me insanely happy!

So -while my art supplies are packed up I thought I’d blog a few things from 2011 that I never found the time to pull together…..I have always loved blue willow china, when I was young my grandmother had loads of it and I think that is when I started my lifelong obsession with it…I have everyday blue willow and a fancier set of Royal Doulton “real old willow” for special occasions, I also have pieces from my grandmother and pieces from antiques shopping…

this is also packed up now along with my art supplies…awaiting a new spot!

my step-mom also shares my love for blue & white………..

So -while my art supplies are packed up I thought I’d blog a few things from 2011 that I never found the time to pull together…..In November my niece (& goddaughter) Terri got married and of course I had to pull my florist skills out of retirement and do her wedding flowers…

The last wedding that I did was in about 2004…but the stress of getting every detail right and everything to the right person at the right time came rolling back like it had been only 8 days and not 8 years….we scrambled to find everything since I shut my business down and got rid of all my florist paraphernalia. Dollar store trash cans made great cheap flower buckets…it was cold so put everything in our down stairs powder room -cracked the window and shut the door – Èt voila -instant flower refrigerator.

Thank goodness and a lot of help from my family it all turned out and was a beautiful wedding!

somehow we all managed to get cleaned up and dressed up in time too…

So -while my art supplies are packed up I thought I’d blog a few things from 2011 that I never found the time to pull together…..This is one of my favorite places in the universe! If you have never visited I highly recommend that you make a pilgrimage. It is the ultimate “artist’s date”. I went with my sister and niece and we had a fabulous time. Unfortunately I accidentally broke the rules and snapped a few pictures inside before I realized it was prohibited…oops…

This is the entry hall to go to the main building…

When you sign up for the Sketchbook Project you have to choose one of their themes for your book. I forget what the all the choices were -but I chose “Create & Capture” – it seemed right up my alley. You are allowed to interpret the theme as you wish – I thought it would work well with the collage I have been doing.
As a fairly dyslexic person I usually go about stuff backwards so I have been capturing images I like from magazines and creating collages with them and then adding doodles and words to make them my own….
Here are some pages I started for the book:
